Very informative post Christian. Of all the things you mention, I love self hosted WordPress. But unfortunately, WordPress is designed for blog and it is not appropriate for any other form of online presence. Drupal and Joomla are excellent if you go e-commerce. If you are particular about performance and flexibility specially on large website, you need to consider Drupal seriously.
BTW, I am running a web hosting business at http://mathalino.net and we also offer free assistance to our clients to get them started.
I hope the Christian will retain my link to Mathalino.net but if he choose to remove it, it’s okey for me, I understand because I am a blogger too.
