When I found out about Snagit through some online reviews, I was hesitant to buy it at first since I’m not fond of buying software programs (I’m a freeware fanatic). But then, there’s something in me that wanted to try it so I decided to purchase my very first licensed software app. And it was actually one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!

Snagit saves me a lot of time and effort. Aside from being a perfect all-in-one screen capture app, it also comes with a great annotation tool that lets you edit your screenshots and put some texts, arrows, or highlights, in just a few clicks! Perfect for reviewing apps and adding comments on the picture.

All-in-One

One of my most favorite features of Snagit is the All-in-One which lets you capture the whole screen, a region, a window, or a scrolling window in just one-click! This is really great if you’re undecided which part of the screen you’re going to capture.

Cool effects

Want to add some awesome effects to your screenshots? Well, with Snagit Editor, you can easily do that in just a few clicks.

Stylishly delete unwanted pieces of an image by removing vertical and horizontal sections. Add a background image to fill the gap, or make it transparent. You can also make your image look as if one of the corners is folded over for an eye-grabbing effect. Pick from one of the preset page curl options, or create your own.

Share easily

Once you finished editing your capture, you can easily save it to your preferred format then share it with friends via email, upload to Screencast.com (with free 2GB of storage), or publish it to your website via FTP.

I just hope that they’ll include direct share to Facebook or Twitter on their future updates.

Organize

Snagit also knows that it’ll be quite difficult to organize all your screenshots after a long time of using it that’s why it’s good that Snagit has the auto-tagging feature that lets you search for your captures by date, website, application, or a custom flag that you create and assign.

Even now that I’m already working, I still use it every time I need to capture anything on my screen. All my laptops have Snagit installed and the only thing that’s missing now is an Android app.

Facebook Messenger

Facebook Messenger for Windows is an app that lets you chat with your Facebook friends without the need to go to the Facebook.com. In addition, this app also shows you the latest updates from your friends in ticker and gives you quick notifications about what’s happening on your Facebook profile.

Using Facebook Messenger makes you feel that you’re still viewing it in a web browser without the newsfeed. There’s an option to dock it at the right side of the screen so you can do other things like doing your report while checking the latest updates from your friends in ticker.

It’s also very fun and easy to chat with multiple friends using Facebook Messenger since it uses tabbed chat interface. However, the app doesn’t support group chat yet and the video calling as well so you still have to open your browser just in case you want to use any of these features.

Currently, Facebook Messenger is on trial mode and it only supports Windows 7. You may give it a try by visiting this link.

iDump – free your iPod

iDump is a portable Windows application that lets users transfer songs from their iPod to any PC. It has a very simple interface and using it is no brainer. Just connect your iPod to PC and launch iDump.

Once your iPod is connected, iDump will automatically display all the songs stored in it allowing you to choose which ones you want to copy to your PC. But before you start selecting songs, head on to the Output Options tab first and set an output directory for all the songs that you’re going to transfer. Once done, you can go back to the main tab and start selecting the songs.

To select songs, just click the box beside the song title or if you want to transfer everything, right-click anywhere and click Select All. When you’re done choosing, click the Start Copy button on the upper-right side. If you’re not familiar with the title, just right-click on the song and click the Play button. Your default music player will open and will start playing the song.

There’s also a search bar which makes it very easy if you intend to transfer only few songs out of thousands stored in your iPod.

Another cool feature of iDump is that it imports even your Playlist. Just click the drop down box and choose the playlist you want to be displayed.

iDump may not be as feature-rich compare to other commercial apps out there but it’s still an awesome app for me. It has all the features I need for its purpose, it’s lightweight, and best of all, it’s freakin’ FREE!

iDump works well on Windows XP/Vista/7. The only downside of it I guess is that it’s not compatible with iPhone and iTouch (but for me it’s okay since I don’t own any of those).

Audials Moviebox is another awesome software from RapidSolution. It lets users record streaming videos online, rip DVDs, convert videos to different formats, and enjoy media files anytime, anywhere using online clouds that have been pre-configured into the app.

Audials Moviebox has the same sleek interface as the Audials One 8. In the main screen, you’ll see there all the major functions of the app.

If you have a huge collection of DVDs and you really treasure it, Audials Moviebox can help you preserve them by creating a private copy of them. It lets you convert even protected video files by playing them and automatically re-recording them from the screen. Audials Moviebox – Record streaming videos

Another great feature of Audials Moviebox is its ability to record streaming videos on your browser. Whether its from YouTube, Dailymotion, or etc., it can help you automatically detect and record it, or if not, you can manually define the area to record.

You just have to remember that you cannot do multiple recordings. You have to finish first your current download before you can record another video.

You can use the convert option to choose a conversion preset that suits your playback device so when you’re done recording, it will automatically save and convert the video file to the right format.

Audials Moviebox – Cloud storage

One of the best features of Audials is its integration with the cloud storage, however, it’s just weird that they are claiming that they support Amazon Cloud Drive, Windows Live SkyDrive, Audiobox.fm and others on their website but when I checked it, only two are currently supported.

Hope they can update this list soon so I can try it with my Windows Live Skydrive account. This would really be a great feature so users can play all their media files using any device with internet access, anytime and anywhere using cloud storage.

Audials Moviebox – Media Center

Audials Moviebox also has a Media Center that lets you sync your media files with your mobile phone, or other devices, burn songs to CD, or create a ringtone. This is where you also organize your files so you can keep your collection, clutter-free.

All in all, Audials Moviebox is a multi-functional and impressive app. I find it easier to use compare to Audials One since it has lesser features. Though it doesn’t have that “killer” features, it’s just nice that it combines all these great functions that we normally find in a separate or different software programs.
