I’ve been using my Android device for almost a year now and I’ve already tried numerous apps from the most boring to the greatest ones out there. While there are really a lot of useful and entertaining apps in the Android Market, there are also bunch of silly and weird apps that can make you laugh or raise your eyebrows. Here’s 10 of the funniest, silliest, and weirdest Android apps that you can find in the Market.

Funny, Silly and Weird Android apps

1. Crack Your Screen

This app puts a crack on your screen so you can prank your friends. To use it, just shake your phone and your screen is cracked. Shake it again to repair it.

2. Pimple Popper

If you enjoy pricking or squeezing your pimple then I’m sure you’ll enjoy this one but for me, this game is quite awful.

3. Paper Racing

The goal of the game is to finish dragging off a roll of toilet paper in as fast as you can. The concept is really shallow but in fairness, the game is pretty fun to play when you’re really really really bored.

4. Brush Your Teeth

This app will teach your kid the right way to brush their teeth and will show them the effect of drinking softdrinks and eating chocolates on their teeth.

5. Finger Slayer

This game is entertaining and exciting at first but gets really boring just after 5 minutes of playing.

6. 1poo3

Mad at someone? This app can make you feel better by throwing poo to your enemies’ faces.

7. Slap The Baboon

Who wants to slap the Baboon’s butt? Anyone?

8. Hair Plucker

From the same creator of the awful and silly Pimple Popper, here is another silly app, Hair Plucker.

9. Power Puker

Just look at the screenshots below so you would know why it became part of the list.

10. Fart Sound Board

Never heard of a fart? This fart machine app will create different funny and weird fart sounds for you. Sounds stupid but it’s fun to use when you’re with friends.

Some of the most popular apps for Android and other mobile devices are photography apps. In fact, many cell phones are advertised and sold for their ability to take and share photos, effectively adding “camera” to the long list of what mobile devices have become beyond mere telephones.

This is a guest post by James Adams. If you want to guest post on this blog, just drop me a message using the Contact page.

Threats from external sources have created a need for everyone with internet access to use an encryption tool to secure all information that resides on servers and computers. Large corporations have always used extensive measures to protect their computer networks from viruses and attempts to hack into databases, but many smaller businesses and private users usually ignore threats until an identity is stolen or a network is compromised. Information contained in every spreadsheet or report is the responsibility of the company to protect, and lawsuits can be filed if someone is able to steal that information.

Consider installing one of these top five encryption tools on every computer and server to protect valuable information from external threats. Each of these programs is meant to be installed on every computer. Encryption processes take place in the background without intervention from the user. Every private computer user would be wise to select one of these programs and install the software on computers in the office or at home to prevent outside invasion and theft of personal information.

1. Pretty Good Privacy – (PGP)

Recently purchased by Symantec Corporation

Known throughout many industries as the standard in data encryption used to protect sensitive information on removable and permanent data storage devices containing information stored in spreadsheets, word processing documents, email, instant messages, and any other form residing on the media.

Considered the easiest and most comprehensive software program in nearly every application from the smallest home office to multinational organizations that must protect employees and citizens from foreign investigations into private information.

Method: Public Key Encryption

Price: $239 for full version (required in certain applications)

OS: Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux

2. Stunnel

Program designed to allow a network to encrypt inbound arbitrary TCP connections that reside inside the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)

Requires an SSL library, such as OpenSLL, to perform correctly.

Complex encryption protection of information throughout the network is available after proper setup procedures have been implemented. Transparent to every user and impenetrable to threats from external threats.

Method: Universal SSL Wrapper

Price: Free (requires open source code)

3. TrueCrypt

Encryption solution based on open source implementation written and provided by the True Crypt Foundation.

Provides varying level of encryption based on the need of the software program used.

Localized encryption is used for Microsoft programs since drive encryption is not possible when working inside these programs.

Rated as extremely easy to use and effective in on-the-fly use that enables the user to access any file without extra steps to remove the encryption prior to editing the file.

Method: Creates a virtual encrypted disk

Price: Free

OS: Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux

4. Kruptos 2.0 Professional

Invoked one file at a time for easy control and retrieval of all encrypted files.

Allows easy editing of encrypted files and re-encrypts the file when it is closed after use.

Easily integrates with Windows for easy use without attention to actively encrypting and removing encryption through extra steps. All functions are available through the menus.

Price: $14.99 for full version (offers 30-day free trial)

OS: Windows only

5. Folder Lock

Provides the option to simply lock folders from external view or apply the encryption algorithm. Whenever the program is opened, the master password must be entered by the user. When external penetration is attempted, the computer can be set to shut down.

Offers a “stealth” mode to hide the existence of the program on the computer.

Encryption file size is limited to 25 MB in the free version.

Method: Blowfish 256-bit encryption algorithm

Price: Free trial version, $39.95 for full version

OS: Windows only

The most powerful encryption programs used to protect information that resides on computers are free of charge. When evaluating the best program to protect the information on your computers, look closely at the level of encryption the program provides and the ease of use. Price is not an indicator of the power of the product in this particular segment of the software industry. Repetitive use of the program will build confidence in the software options. External attempts to penetrate the network security can be viewed easily through the statistics options in each of the programs.

If you are looking for a cheaper or free solution to the Microsoft Office Suite, then perhaps this list of seven cheaper alternative office productivity tools can help you. All of these alternatives feature a number of different features that make each product nearly identical to the Microsoft Office Suite. Many of the products described below feature word document programs, spreadsheet programs, presentation programs, and even graphics programs. While some of the products listed below will come at a very small and affordable price, there are also open source office suite programs that allow you to take advantage of free office features.

1. Open Office

Open Office is an open source version of Microsoft Office. It supports different computer operating systems such as Mac OS X, Windows, Linux, and Solaris.

I’ve been a big fan of Firefox since the first time I used it. I really like everything about it especially its lightning speed and the wide choices of add-ons that you can install to improve your browsing experience. And speaking of add-ons, actually, for the past 3 years of using Firefox, I have used a lot of them and some even become my favorites.

Today, I’m going to show you the add-ons that really standout for me and that I can truly say, give me the best browsing experience.

1. QuickDrag – my most favorite add-on.

Eveything becomes so easy after installing QuickDrag. If you want to load URLs, just drag and drop it; if you want to do a web search of selected text on a page, just drag and drop it; if you want to save an image from a webpage, just drag and drop it. No hassle at all and it really saves your time!

2. AdBlock Plus

Do you hate the ads that you see on the web? Check out this add-on so you can regain control of the internet and view the web the way you want to.

3. Download Statusbar

Are you annoyed every time you download something and then the download window will popup? Now, there’s a better way to view and manage downloads straight from you status bar.

Download Statusbar is a handy dandy add-on that lets you view your downloads from a tidy status bar – without the download window getting in the way of your web browsing.

4. Greasemonkey

This add-on lets you boost your web experience by installing some JavaScripts. There are a lot of scripts available and you can find them at http://userscripts.org.

5. Menu Editor

This add-on lets you clean up your messy menu. It allows you to remove those options on your context menu that you don’t use often or you don’t need at all. You can also rearrange the items on your menu via drag and drop.

6. SiteLauncher

This add-on lets you quickly visit your favorite websites using only your keyboard.

7. SkipScreen

This add-on is a great tool that allows you to skip unnecessary pages on sites like RapidShare, Megaupload, zShare, Mediafire, and more.

8. WebMail Notifier

This add-on lets you check your webmail accounts and notifies the number of unread emails. Aside from your email accounts, it also supports Facebook, Twitter, and more by installing some scripts.

9. Spedr

I know that there are a lot of URL shortener add-ons out there but what I like most about Spedr is its simplicity. To shorten a long URL, all you have to do is just click its lightning icon in your address bar and once the icon turns yellow, it’s done already! It also copies the shortened URL to your clipboard automatically.

10. Organize Status Bar

If you’re using a lot of add-ons, I’m sure you’ll notice that your status bar begins to be filled up with tons of icons. Good thing there is Organize Status Bar which can help you clean and organize your messy status bar.

11. Google Shortcuts

Since I’m a big fan of Google, this add-on is very essential for me because it lets me visit any Google services like Gmail, Google reader, Google maps, Google calendar, and many more in a single click from my browser.

12. IE Tab Plus

This add-on enables you to use the embedded IE engine within tabs of Mozilla Firefox. It is not only useful for web developers but also for the normal users like us since there are some sites that only work properly when viewed in Internet Explorer like the Windows Update site, and etc.

13. Simple Timer + Clocks

This is a very important add-on for me because I always want to check the time whenever I’m using my netbook. Aside from the clock, it also offers count down/up, alarm clock, and calendar reminders.

14. Shareaholic

Since I’m an internet addict, every day I get to visit websites and articles that really “Wow” me and really caught my attention that’s why it’s very essential for me to have Shareaholic by my side that allows me to share interesting links to my Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, and other accounts easily.

15. UsableHomeButton

How often do you use the Home button of your browser? Once? Twice? Thrice a week? If you find the Home button useless, it’s time you check out UsableHomeButton, an add-on that makes the Home button usable by linking it to the homepage of the current site.

16. FEBE

This add-on lets you back up your extensions, themes, bookmarks, preferences, passwords, cookies and just about everything else Firefox offers. (It’s always important to have a backup, right?)

That’s it! Actually, I still have some add-ons that I didn’t mention above like Alexa Sparky, Hide Caption, Fission, and Search Site but why I didn’t include them on the list? Because I can use Firefox without them, but those that are listed above, I can not.

How about you guys? What are your most favorite Firefox add-ons and why? Are you also using some of the add-ons that I’m using? Share your thoughts below at the comment box.

This is a guest post by James Adams. If you want to guest post on this blog, just drop me a message using the Contact page.

Since the days of floppies and dialup modems, file compression has been a vital piece of the computer landscape. Now, even with broadband, DVDs, and terabyte drives, file compression is still important to conserve space, group files together, and get attachments past firewalls.

Here are the 7 best file compression tools available today that will add power and simplicity to your life.

1. 7 Zip is a free utility for Windows and Linux that has its own, powerful 7z compression format, but compresses and uncompresses 7z, ZIP, GZIP, BZIP2 and TAR files. This convenient compression tool will also uncompress files in the ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, DEB, DMG, HFS, ISO, LZH, LZMA, MSI, NSIS, RAR, RPM, UDF, WIM, XAR and Z formats.

2. Universal Extractor is a popular Windows compression tool because it integrates nicely with Windows Explorer. This free utility will open compressed files for viewing and extraction as well as other file types such as executables and database files. Universal Extractor detects the type of file you want to open; you can open files even if they have no extension, so extracting files is always fast and easy. Universal Extractor extracts files: it does not have the ability to create compressed files.

3. PeaZip is an open source compression tool that will extract and create compressed files such as 7Z, 7-Zip sfx, ACE, ARJ, BZ2, CAB, CHM, CPIO, DEB, GZ, ISO, JAR, LHA/LZH, NSIS, OOo, PAQ/LPAQ, PEA, QUAD, RAR, RPM, split, TAR, Z, ZIP. You can download versions of PeaZip that run on either Windows or Linux for free.

4. KGB Archiver has one of the highest compression ratios available when it uses its own PAQ7 algorithm. In fact, with KGB, you can shrink files to less than one-fifth of their size This program works with KGB and Zip files, so you’ll use it more to compress than to decompress. KGB Archiver also integrates with Universal Extractor and incorporates the option to use AES-256 encryption for files you create. Version two of KGB Archiver is now in beta and is available for Windows only. The current release of KGB (1.x) runs with Windows, Linux, or Macintosh. This is a free utility.

5. TUGZip is a robust compression tool that supports scripting and other powerful options. File archives in P, 7-ZIP, A, ACE, ARC, ARJ, BH, BZ2, CAB, CPIO, DEB, GCA, GZ, IMP, JAR, LHA (LZH), LIB, RAR, RPM, SQX, TAR, TGZ, TBZ, TAZ, YZ1 and ZOO formats are all opened in TUBGZip and disk images in BIN, C2D, IMG, ISO and NRG formats can also be opened. TUGZip will create 7-ZIP, BH, BZ2, CAB, JAR, LHA (LZH), SQX, TAR, TGZ, YZ1 and ZIP files. This program integrates well with Windows shell and enables powerful browsing and drag and drop functionality as well as several encryption formats. TUGZip is free and runs only in Windows.

6. WinRAR is a shareware file compression tool for which you must pay if you use it beyond the trial period. WinRAR supports encryption, and handles all the most common file formats. You can download WinRAR for use with Windows, Macintosh, Pocket PC, Linux, Linux 64, FreeBSD, and MS-DOS. You can purchase WinRAR for $29 for a single user license, with options with a declining pricing scale for additional users.

7. The Unarchiver is designed to be a replacement for the default Mac OS X file archive handler. This is free software that runs on Macintosh. It handles files in Zip, Tar-GZip, Tar-BZip2, RAR, 7-zip, LhA, StuffIt, and other formats and easily installs in the Mac OS X environment.

These 7 best file compression tools all have outstanding capabilities and will help you deal with compressed files whenever you need to create them or open them. Try them all. Find the one you like best or install one or more on your system to make sure you are always ready.

This list shows some of the essential extensions to obtain.
