The FeedBurner Socialize service makes it easy to distribute your content to interested subscribers or followers on social networks using any FeedBurner feed you already have. The Socialize service currently supports distribution on Twitter.

How to setup FeedBurner Socialize to automatically post updates from your feed to your Twitter account:

1. Login to your FeedBurner account.

2. Click your feed name.

3. Go to Publicize tab.

4. Under Services, click Socialize.

5. Click “Add a Twitter account”.

6. Login to your account and authorize FeedBurner to update your Twitter status.

7. It’s time to format your feed for Twitter.

NOTE:

The formatting must fit within the 140 character limit imposed by Twitter. If the options you choose create messages longer than 140 characters, FeedBurner will automatically truncate your messages into 140 character tweets.

* If you choose to include a link to the feed item, it will automatically be shortened using Google shortener (goo.gl).

8. You can preview how your tweets will look in your feed as you change Socialize options.

9. When you’re done, click Activate.

Check your Twitter account the next time you publish a new post.

Now, you don’t have to worry about “tweeting” your blog posts because FeedBurner Socialize will do it for you!

Actually, there are a lot of tools that let you test your website speed but my favorite is GTmetrix because aside from checking the speed, it also gives you some tips that help you develop a faster, more efficient, and all-around improved website experience for your users.

GTmetrix uses Google Page Speed and Yahoo! YSlow to grade your site’s performance and provides actionable recommendations to fix these issues.

How to use GTmetrix:

1. Visit GTmetrix and enter the URL of your website and click GO.

2. GTmetrix will analyze your URL and when it’s done, you’ll receive a performance report for your website.

3. Read and understand the recommendations. To know more about this, go to Recommendations page.

4. If you want to track the history report of your website, you can create an account for free so you can check the improvements that you’ve made to your website.

5. You can also use GTmetrix to compare your website with other URL.

6. If you want to easily check the speed of other websites, you can use the GTmetrix bookmarklet. Just drag the bookmarklet below to your bookmarks toolbar and click it if you want to test the speed of the website you’re currently browsing.

How to start using Uptime Robot:

1. Go to http://www.uptimerobot.com/default.asp, click Start Now and complete the form.

2. Check your email and confirm/activate your account.

3. Once activated, sign in with your account.

4. To add your website, click the “Add New” button. Enter the name and the URL of your website. Click Add.

* Add up to 50 websites for free!

5. You can check the status of your website by looking at the color of its status. If it is color:

• Green – it’s UP
• Red – it’s DOWN
• Gray – it’s not checked yet
• Yellow – it seems off
• Black – the monitoring has been paused

6. If you want to configure the alert settings, just go to My Settings and choose from the alert contacts option.

7. If you want to receive an alert via RSS, just go back to My Monitors and click “Get uptime alerts with RSS”.

8. You can also see three buttons under “Actions”. The first button is used if you want to edit your website; you can click the second button if you want to pause the monitoring; and the last button is used if you want to delete your website.

What is Smart Sharing:

Smart sharing adds a floating box with social media buttons in single posts only. By default, you can pick between Retweet, Facebook, Digg, and StumbleUpon. But you are not limited to these choices because there is an option to add your own custom codes.

Smart Sharing is probably the best “imitation” of the Mashable’s floating share buttons and you can see the live demo here in my blog (it’s on the left-side that scrolls down as you go down).

If you like to install this in your WordPress blog, check this out!

1. Go to http://www.wpbeginner.com/smart-sharing-plugin-for-wordpress/ and enter your email address to download the plugin. Check your email address to confirm your subscription. Once you confirmed your subscription, you’ll receive an email that includes the download link for the Smart Sharing plugin. Download and install the plugin.

2. Once installed, go to the Smart Sharing settings and configure the plugin.

3. What’s good about this plugin is that you can customize it easily even if you’re a beginner like me. You can add other social media network icons like “Google Buzz”, Reddit, ShareThis, etc.

You can add the other buttons/icons in the Custom Codes box. You can use the CSS class “sharer” as a separator. Here’s an example if you want to add the “Google Buzz button”:



4. You may also notice that when you activate the plugin, you’ll see a new box in your post write panel. This box will allow you to have a custom settings for a specific post.

Example, your default settings is: Facebook, StumbleUpon, Retweet buttons are enabled for every posts. Now, if you want to enable the Digg button for a specific post, you can use the Override Global Settings in your post write panel.

Smart Sharing plugin is a really great way to get more votes and traffic from the different social media networks.

I know most of the bloggers now have their own Facebook account and if not, you should sign up now because I’m sure you don’t want to miss the opportunity to promote your blog to your friends and in fact, I’m getting a lot of traffic from my Facebook buddies! In addition, there are a lot of ways to connect or integrate your blog posts to your Facebook wall and your friends’ feeds and probably, the easiest way is by using a WordPress plugin called WordBook.

UPDATE: Wordbook is no longer maintained and it was replaced by Wordbooker.

WordBook is a WordPress plugin that allows you to cross-post your blog posts to your Facebook wall. Your Facebook “boxes” tab will show your most recent blog posts.

How to setup the WordBook plugin to connect to your Facebook account:

1. Download and install WordBook plugin.

2. Go to Settings –> WordBook. You will need a special code for WordBook to work and to do this just click the Facebook button. You’ll be asked if you want to allow WordBook to connect with your Facebook account, click “Get login code for”.

3. To get the code, click Generate. Copy the code and go back to the WordBook plugin and paste the code in the box and click Submit.

4. You’ll see your profile picture and your status message if you copy the code correctly. To finish the setup, WordBook requires authorization to publish stories to your Facebook wall, to do this, click the Facebook button. You’ll be asked if you want to allow WordBook to publish posts or comments without prompting you, click Allow Publishing.

5. If the setup has been successful, you’ll receive a message that says “WordBook appears to be configured and working just fine”.
