Simple Ways On How To Optimize Firefox For Your Netbook

Posted by

If you are using a netbook, I know you’re a bit irritated when surfing the web especially when you’re using a web browser with lots of stuffs like the menu bar, navigational bar, and bookmarks bar because it makes the screen smaller. However, if you’re using Firefox, there are a lot of ways to optimize it for your netbook and I will show you how.

Check out these simple steps to optimize Firefox for your netbook:

TIP no. 1:

Use full screen (shortcut key is F11) when browsing the web. When you are in full screen, all the bars that you hate are hidden and what’s left is only the website you are browsing. If you want to use the navigational bar, just hover your mouse on top and it will appear. If you want to exit the full screen, just press F11.

TIP no. 2:

Use small icons. If you have a 20/20 vision and you can clearly see the back/forward, home, and stop buttons on the navigational bar, then you may want to reduce the size of the icons to save a little space. Just go to View menu –> Toolbars –> Customize and a new window will appear. Check Use Small Icons and click Done.

TIP no. 3:

Hide the bars that you don’t need and you don’t use often. If you’re like my sister who doesn’t care about the status bar or the bookmarks bar, just disable them. Just go to View menu and uncheck the Status Bar. Now the status bar is gone! If you want to disable other bars, just go to View menu –> Toolbars and uncheck the bars that you think you don’t need.

* If you hide the menu bar, you might panic because you will not be able to see the menu anymore but don’t worry, just right-click on the space above the navigational bar or on the refresh button and check Menu Bar.

TIP no. 4:

If you don’t want to completely disable Menu bar, you can install Hide Caption. This add-on will hide the caption of Firefox and the minimize/maximize/close buttons will be placed in the navigational bar, and it also includes a Tiny Menu function that replaces the original menu bar into a drop-down menu icon.

Hide Caption Of Firefox * If you’re using this add-on, it’s best if you’ll disable the Status Bar so you can maximize the space of your browser.

You can also install Tab Sidebar add-on so the tabs will appear on the sidebar instead of the main tab bar. Here’s how your Firefox will look when you follow the TIP no. 4:
