Have you ever imagined how does your client, whom you just exchange emails with for the past couple of weeks, looks like? By the tone of their email, you would imagine them as a happy person or a crazy, mad person who has a lot of exclamation points at the end of every sentence. Well, you’re maybe right, but you may also be wrong. So in order for you to get more accurate info about your contacts, here’s Rapportive, a nifty tool that will help you discover more things about them right inside your inbox! You might be surprised that this mad person just looks like your celebrity crush!
Rapportive – Get rich contact profiles right inside Gmail
Rapportive is a popular Gmail add-on that replaces Gmail ads with contact info about the sender. It immediately shows you what people look like, where they’re based, and what they do by scanning their email on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and more. I can say that it’s a bit of “stalking” but you’re not doing the dirty work tedious work, instead it’s Rapportive and it’s for FREE!
How to use Rapportive
To use it, simply install the add-on on your browser (Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari) and once done, you just need to link it to some of your online accounts e.g. Google, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn. Once finished, head to Gmail and start composing a message.
The moment you enter the email address in the “To:” field, just like what you normally do, Rapportive will look up the contact by scanning various various social networking sites, and then display a host of information on the individual in the right-hand side bar replacing the Gmail ads.
You can then grow your network by connecting with them on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and more right in your inbox! In addition, you can also see their recent tweets, stay updated with the latest happenings on their Facebook account, and leave comments without leaving Gmail.![]()
And should you include multiple contacts in a single email, Rapportive will look up each individual as you hover over their email addresses.
With Rapportive, you can easily establish rapport with any of your contacts by engaging with them on their social networking accounts and by mentioning shared interests. And as said by Rapportive CEO Rahul Vohra, “By using Rapportive before you email, you can be more astute, personal, and effective. You can find ways to break the ice, topics to bond over, and reasons to get in touch with people. You can even make small gestures such as liking Facebook posts and following on Twitter”.
