So now you already have DropBox, SkyDrive, and Google Drive desktop clients installed on your PC. And adding files to these folders is as simple as drag and drop. But most of the time, it’s easier and faster to use Windows’ Send to menu than arranging two windows for dragging and dropping of files. Just right click on any file, hover over Send to and choose the destination where you want to send the file.

By default, the Send to menu only includes destinations such as Desktop, Mail Recipient, and Compressed Folder. But wouldn’t it be great if you could add more shortcuts such as DropBox, SkyDrive, and Google Drive to that menu? In fact you can!

How to add more shortcuts to Windows’ Send to Menu:

1. Open Windows Explorer or any folder.

2. In Explorer, copy-paste the text below in an empty area inside the address bar.

%APPDATA%/Microsoft/Windows/SendTo

3. Now you should be looking at the folder containing Windows’ send-to shortcuts. You then need to find the Windows shortcut to Dropbox, SkyDrive, or whatever and just copy-paste it inside this folder.

6. You’re done! Try it on any file. Just right click, choose Send to and you’ll now see your new shortcuts in the options.

If you unplug a storage device from your computer while it’s transferring files, there’s a big chance that you lose some information or worst, your USB flash drive might get corrupted. Good thing Windows has a Safely Remove Hardware option which lets you unplug your flash memory safely. However, for most people, they find it very time consuming to go through this step every time they remove their USB from their PC. So if you’re looking for a simple way to enable quick removal of USB devices and bypass Safely Remove Hardware, this post is for you.

How to bypass Safely Remove Hardware option when unplugging USB devices:

1. Open Device Manager. You may find it by searching “Device Manager” in the Start menu search field or in the Control Panel.

2. Look for USB Devices/Disk Drives. Click Disk Drives to expand and reveal your internal and external drives. The USB devices will always have “USB” included in their names.

3. Choose Quick Removal. Double-click the USB device for which you want to disable the Safely Remove Hardware option. A new window will open, go to Policies tab. You’ll see two removal policies: Quick Removal and Better Performance. If you choose Better Performance, you will need to use the Safely Remove Hardware option every time you disconnect your USB while the Quick Removal policy lets you disconnect the device safely without using the said option.

If you think inserting images into Gmail messages can be done by just “copy pasting”, then you’re wrong. Today has been a very frustrating day for me trying to figure out why some people are able to send emails with the images inserted into the email body and not as attachment. Then after some Googling, I found out that there’s a quick and easy way to do it. Thanks to Gmail Labs!

Insert inline images in Gmail without attaching

Here’s a simple guide on how you can include images in the body of your email without attaching.

1. Log in to your Gmail account. Go to Settings –> Labs.

2. Look for “Inserting Images” then click Enable. Check for other cool labs that you want to enable. Once done, click the Save Changes button below.

3. Now, every time you want to insert inline images into your email body, just click the Insert Image button beside the emoticon icon.

Just remember that Gmail and other email clients do not show URL-based images in messages by default. Recipients must click the “Display images below” or “Always display images from…” to see the embedded images.

Having a secondary browser is a must if you’re always stuck in a slow, unreliable internet connection (like when you’re leeching off public WiFi). This secondary browser must be optimized for slow internet connection to help you survive the pain and annoyance of waiting for websites to finish loading.

Set-up a secondary browser optimized for slow connection:

1. Choose a browser

If you’re default browser is Firefox, then go with either Chrome or Opera. If you choose Opera, you can take advantage of the Opera Turbo feature, which is a trimmed-down version of the webpage specifically for slow connections. Chrome, on the other hand, is your best choice when system resource is an issue as well.

2. Block Ads and Flash

There are a lot of add-ons that you can use to block these Ads and Flash.

AdBlock Plus and Flashblock for Firefox

AdBlock for Chrome

AdBlock for Opera (Opera Turbo has a built-in Flashblock)

3. Disable images

It’s really nice to see articles or web pages with images, however, when you’re on sluggish connection it’s better to disable them especially if you don’t really need them.

In Opera, head to Preferences > Webpages and change the “Images” dropdown to “cached images” or “no images“. Cached images will load only stuff you’ve already stored locally, so it won’t use up any of your internet connection. Firefox users can just go to Options > Content and uncheck the “Load Images Automatically” box. Chrome users can go to Settings > Under the Hood > Content Settings and disable images from there. Both Firefox and Chrome can let you whitelist sites from which you still want to load images.

4. Use fewer or no extensions

Add-ons are there to power up the browser but using too many of them can seriously slow down your browser. It’s okay to use them on your default or primary browser, but for our optimized secondary browser, it’s better to NOT use any extension (except for the Ad and Flash blocker).

5. Use mobile sites

Most of the websites nowadays already have their own mobile-friendly versions. I know it’s not really nice to view these mobile sites on a regular web browser but if you’re on an unbearably slow connection, it might be worth trying them. A simple way to do this is to change the user agent of the secondary browser to a mobile device like Android or iPhone.

For Firefox, you can use User Switch Agent.

For Chrome, you can use User-Agent Switcher.

Opera, unfortunately, doesn’t support changing the user agent.

6. Disable automatic updates

I don’t usually recommend this since it’s really important to always get the latest updates of the add-ons and the web browsers, however, if you’re on a slow connection, I’m sure you don’t want it to be leeching up bandwidth in secret while you’re trying to browse.

To disable automatic updates in Opera, go to Preferences > Advanced tab > Security then change the “Auto-Update” dropdown to “Notify me“. For Firefox, just go to Options > Advanced > Update then choose “Ask me what to do”.

It is quite normal for me to see negative reactions from my friends every time there’s a new update rolling out but after a while, once they get used to it, everything turns back to normal. Most of them just find it difficult to adapt to changes. :P

Facebook Timeline

Aside from the Facebook drastic overhaul, they also announced Timeline which is a cool, new way to view everything that has ever happened in your Facebook lifespan. Curious about how it looks like? Unfortunately, it’s only open for open graph developers but Facebook said that it will available for everyone in the coming weeks. But if you’re really excited and cannot wait for the public launch, here’s a simple way to enable it.

How to enable Facebook Timeline

1. Log-in to Facebook and enable Developer mode, if you haven’t already. Just search for “Developer” in the search box and click the app that has more than 1 million monthly users and then add/allow it.

2. Once you’re in the Developer app, click Create New App and give your new app a display name and namespace and agree to the Platform Privacy agreement.

3. Once done, you should see your app’s name near the top of the page. Look for the Open Graph header and click the Get started using the Open Graph link.

4. Create a test action for your app. You can just copy the example like read a book, or watch a movie.

5. Complete the 3-step action configuration page. TIP: Just click Save at the bottom of the page.

6. Once done, go back to your Facebook home screen and you’ll see an invite to try Timeline at the top of the page. Click Get it now to get started.

Facebook Timeline looks really great but it might take a while for me to get familiar with the new design.

Do you think your boyfriend is hiding some pictures from you on his Facebook account? If you’re using the official Facebook application for Android, lucky you because there’s an easy way to see blocked contents including pictures and anyone’s profile from within the app.

NOTE: We know that this method can violate privacy on Facebook but it is very important to point issues like this so that the Facebook Developers will be alarmed and hopefully, find a way to fix this problem.

1. Launch the Official Facebook application.

2. Visit anyone’s profile (a Facebook friend, anonymous, enemy, secret crush, etc.)

3. While the page is still loading, quickly tap the Photo tab and voila! You can now see all their albums as if you’re friends with them.

IMPORTANT: Make sure that you tap the Photo tab while the page is still loading or else, it will not work.

* This trick may not work for other profiles who have different privacy settings.

There are probably plenty of Facebook users who are very happy to find this trick, but I’m pretty sure that there are also a lot who are very nervous right now especially those who are hiding something from someone.

* Thanks to Marko of XDA-Developers site for sharing this trick to us!

Who loves the new Facebook chat box? No one! I’ve already read a lot of complaints regarding with this new feature that Facebook has implemented. The new Facebook chat only displays your friends (online or not) whom you message the most instead of the complete list of your online/idle friends. If you miss the old Facebook chat and you want to use it again, here’s a very simple solution for that.

Bring back the old Facebook chat – Simple Solution

To bring back the old Facebook chat, we just need to install a script called Facebook Sidebar Chat Reversion to our browser. This trick has been tested on Google Chrome and Firefox only.

For Firefox users:

Make sure you have Greasemonkey add-on installed, if not, install it first. Restart your browser after the installation.

Install Facebook Sidebar Chat Reversion script.

Go to Facebook and check your chat box.

For Google Chrome users:

You don’t need to download Greasemonkey since the Chrome browser natively supports the extension. Just install Facebook Sidebar Chat Reversion and that’s it.

Now you’re Facebook chat box looks fantastic again!

The new Facebook chat could have been great if it really displays your friends whom you really talk to frequently. However, based on my experience, it doesn’t.

SiteLauncher is a great Firefox add-on that provides a quick way to open your favorite websites using only your keyboard. However, the developer must have forgotten to update it to make it work with the latest version of Firefox. Thankfully, there’s a very simple way to make it compatible with Firefox 5.

Actually, I’m going to share two ways to you: easy and extremely easy. If you’re not that geeky, I suggest you choose the second way.

Make SiteLauncher work with Firefox 5 – the easy way

1. Download SiteLauncher and save it to your hard drive. (To download, right-click on the link and click Save-Link As)

2. Rename the extension from .xpi to .zip.

3. Open/double-click the ZIP file. (Do not extract)

4. Open the “install.rdf” file using Notepad then look for the text <em:maxVersion> and change the version to 5.0 or higher (depends on which version you’re using) then save the file.

5. Rename the ZIP file back to .xpi and install the add-on by dragging it into the Firefox browser.

* Thank you so much to Sandarian for sharing this solution to all of us!

Make SiteLauncher work with Firefox 5 – the very easy way

If you’re kinda lazy to follow the steps above, just download the edited file and install it to your browser.

* SiteLauncher is part of the 16 must-have Firefox add-ons for the best browsing experience. Check out the complete list!

I’ve been receiving a lot of emails asking me how to bring back the “Save and Quit” function in Firefox when you’re closing the application. This warning message automatically appears on the older versions of Firefox, however, on the latest versions 4 & 5, this function has been disabled. Good thing there’s a very simple way to bring it back.

How to enable the “Save and Quit” option in Firefox:

1. Launch Firefox and type about:config in the address bar. A warning message will appear – don’t panic! Just click I’ll be careful, I promise!

2. Next, type quit into the filter box and double-click browser.showQuitWarning to change its value to true.

That’s it! Now, you’ll be asked if you want to save your session every time you close multiple tabs.

Alternatively, you can try the tricks below if you want to restore your previous session even without the “Save and Quit” option.

1. If you set your homepage to about:home, there’s a Restore Previous Session button below. Click it and you’ll get your windows and tabs back.

2. Another way is by restoring the previous session from the History menu. Go to Firefox, hover over History, and click Restore Previous Session.

Hi again guys! While I was trying out the Facebook video call a while ago with my brother, I’ve noticed another new feature on Facebook which is the “chatting with multiple friends”. Sounds cool right? It is a bit different with “chatting with a group” because first of all, you don’t need to become part of a group to chat with other friends. It’s just like creating a private conversation with your favorite buddies so you can talk about anyone or anything you like in a single chat window.

To use this new feature, first you need to login to your Facebook account. Once logged in, open your Chat box and click any friend you want to include on the group chat. Click the Actions menu at the top of the chat window and choose Add Friends to Chat.

Enter the names of your friends that you want to include on the group chat. You can include as many friends as you want and I’m not sure if there’s a limit on the number of friends you can invite.

* I tried adding up to 60 and it’s still possible.

* Know more about this new feature.

Facebook is really trying their best to add more great features so they can still be at the top against their other competitors especially the much awaited public launching of Google+. Are these features they’re rolling out are enough to keep them on the top spot? We’ll see.
