How To Backup Bookmarks And Plugins In Firefox
Firefox is one of the most popular and widely used web browser in the world today. It is really my favorite browser because it’s so fast and it has tons of add-ons and themes to choose from! It’s also very easy to backup important items like bookmarks and plugins by using FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension), a Firefox add-on that allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions.
It is so important to always backup your bookmarks and plugins so if something bad happens, you can easily restore them. It really hurts if you lose all your bookmarks in just a snap like what happened to me before. That’s why after that incident, it has become my hobby to backup all my Firefox bookmarks, plugins and other important items on a weekly basis.
FEBE backs up your extensions, themes, bookmarks, preferences, passwords, cookies and just about everything else Firefox offers (it can even backup/restore your entire profile). You can selectively restore only the items you need. For instance, you may just want your bookmarks restored and leave everything else as it was.
How to use FEBE to backup your Firefox bookmark and extensions:
1. Download and install FEBE.
2. Restart your browser.
3. Before you can backup your Firefox, let’s customize first your newly installed FEBE. On the Menu bar, Go to Tools then hover over FEBE and click FEBE Options.
4. Go to Directory tab and choose your Backup Destination Directory. (This is the folder where FEBE will create the backup files).
5. After you setup your Backup Destination Directory, go to Options tab.
6. Select your Backup Type. (To know more about the different types of backup, click the small button beside it and a window will popup with the definitions of each backup types).
7. If you choose Selective type:
Proceed to “Backup items” option and check other items that you want to backup on the dropdown box and click OK.
* If you choose the “Full Profile” these options are automatically disabled.
8. To perform the backup, go to Tools, hover over FEBE and click Perform Backup. Just wait for it to finish the backup process.
9. You will receive a backup report on a separate tab once the backup is done.
That’s it! All you have to do now is to take care of the backup files. You may burn it on CD or save it on your USB.
You may also want to schedule the backup of your Firefox extensions. How?
Just go to FEBE Options. Go to Schedule tab and choose your preferences.
